SAINT PETER: This apostle was martyred on an upside-down cross as he felt unworthy to die in the same manner as Christ. The keys are the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 16:18-19). SAINT THOMAS: This apostle is said to have built a church with his own hands in India. He was killed there with a spear by a pagan priest. Donated by Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Scheu and son in memory of Dr. and Mrs. Carl H. Scheu and Mr. and Mrs. A. Sydney Hurst. LILY: This is traditionally a symbol of purity associated with the Virgin Mary.
