 SAINT
SIMON THE ZEALOT:
The symbol for this apostle is a fish which rests upon a book, because through
the power of the Gospel, Simon became a great fisher of men.
SAINT ANSGARIUS (ANSKAR):
Ansgarius, the patron saint of Scandinavia, was a missionary to hostile
tribes of Norsemen in the 9th century. Through great self-denial and love
for others, he converted many to Christianity.
SAINT PHILIP:
The rondels on this shield represent bread and refer to this apostle's role
in the story of Jesus' feeding the multitudes (John 6:7). The cross is a
symbol for his martyrdom.
CHRISTMAS ROSE:
This symbol of purity, a white hearty rose which blooms at Christmas, is
primarily seen as a symbol of the Nativity.
Entire cushion donated by the Reverand H.R. and Janet Wiechert in thanksgiving
for the privilege of ministry at All Saints' Church.
Needlepointed by Luci Jordan. |
